I am a process-oriented artist. After developing a concept and basic forms, I embrace elements of spontaneity and randomness in my work. This allows my materials to make their presence known and develops the notion that each piece is a single perspective manifested at that moment.

"Reciprocation"

As an exploration of difference and dichotomy, "Reciprocation" seeks to unify ideas of separateness that can be created in our understanding of the world, each other, and ourselves. Truly seeing and understanding duality is to understand its oneness and open a new realm of living.

"Still Waiting"

This piece was made at the peak of the 2020 pandemic in the midst of the first quarantine. I used only objects found in my bedroom to create the composition. The objects, their hazy rendering, and the color palette were meant as an expression of my mental state during these weeks. This state was characterized by its simultaneity. Even as time seemed to stand still and the situation was very grave, I found a great deal of growth and peace at this time of my life.

"Portrait of the Self"

“Portrait of the Self” looks at the “self” – what we call our identity – as created from manifold component parts, as something ever-changing. It morphs through time, nebulous and indefinite. This piece visually deconstructs the self and its elements in an attempt at analysis. Can we understand the self as a constructed thing and how can we use this understanding to create a better self?

"An Early Summer Afternoon"

This bright interior captures my childhood kitchen doused in the afternoon sun. There is a tremendous amount of nostalgia behind this image. The shoes, placed by the open door, imply bare feet feeling the grass somewhere in the backyard. My art is always a brief look into my thoughts or perception. In sharing something like this, I am seeking to make a connection to the warm childhood memories of my audience.
